Annual Mandatory Training

It’s that time of year again...annual training has been assigned in CentreLearn. There is one assignment

on your home page called Annual Mandatory Training-2017 which includes 7 courses. N-95 fit testing is

also required and can be done by any officer. PLEASE NOTE: for career personnel, all must be completed

while on shift at either at Henrietta or Chili. Fit testing is done only at Henrietta. All is due by Sunday,

January 15, 2017. Thank you!

Collaborative Protocol Training

Dr. Cushman will be presenting some of the important changes in the upcoming Collaborative Protocols at
our November 1 training. If you are unable to attend, but would still like the info, you may attend the same
session at Gates or Penfield Ambulance. Please email the respective contact if you plan to attend their
training nights.

Patient Handoff Training

MLREMS Advisory 16-04 Improving Patient Handoffs was rolled out to all EMS providers as well as the

area hospital staff. All HVA providers must complete the training by 6/30/16. Please click here to access

the 23 minute video on the MLREMS website. After watching the video, click the link to take the test,

PRINT the cert and place it in Linda or Peg’s lockbox.

Fluid Admin Documentation

I have found we are being very inconsistent in our documentation of fluid admin. Our objectives of documentation for this is when fluid was started and total given. Moving forward, please try to do as follows: As part of your Initiate IV activity entry narrative, please include if a bag is attached, size f the bag, and the flow rate. At the hospital arrival time (or close), enter a medication activity for NSS and include total amount given as the dose.

ACLS-R, PALS-R and PALS-O

Additional ACLS-R and PALS-R classes have been added through December. Need a PALS Original class?
HVA requires all paramedics to obtain PALS within 6 months of hire and maintain it throughout
employment. We have an original class scheduled for July 19-20. Sign up here ACLS and PALS .
